repowering an oday 222

i am looking to replace my evinrude yachtwin 6 on my oday 222 .what would be the max motor weight and horsepower i could safely use? 2 or 4 stroke?

5 hp mer

I put a 5HP 2 stroke mer. on mine because of less cost and less weight. I am glad to say it was the right choice for me. I had a honda 4 stroke and it was always a hazzle to start and more sensitive to cooling problems. I know they are cleaner runnning but for me the 5 or 10 minutes we used it each sail was short enough that I didnt worry about that part. I know of 2 boats (22 Cal) that use elec trolling motors, worth thanking about Jim

Replacement Power

Stick with a 2 stroke 4-6 HP OMC...its important to keep the weight down.
