Repowering aCat 30

Has anybody repowered their boat from an M-25 to an M-25XP? Is the footprint identical or do you have to do some rebedding of the mounts, etc. Is it a "drop in" conversion ? Thanks for the help.

Still don't have answer

I posted that question on the marine diesel direct forum. They gave me the dimensons, but did not state whether the difference in size changes the position of the motor mounts, etc.

Mike,I believe that the two engines are identical as far as dimensions go. They differ in displacement (bore x stroke), hp (21 vs 23), and cooling systems (2" heat ex. vs 3" heat ex.)They are the same block and same tranny. My question to you would be why go through the trouble and expense for just an additional 2 hp? If you were going up to an M30 or M35 it might be worth it. Just some thoughts.Tom SokoJulandra #659
