My wife and I are looking at new Yanmar engines for our H27. The Yanmar SB8 is no longer working. We are not sure weather the 1GM10 will be enough or if we should go with the 2GM20. Any advice would be appreciated. Bob and Dori SV/Dory Anne

Move up

I have a h27 and the previous owner had installed a 2gm20. I have not been aboard a h27 with the single cyclinder, but understand its underpowered.I have all the power I need, use about a quart per hour at 2800= 6 kts, fits well under companion way stairs. Can remember one instance this engine got me off a lee shore in bad storm,no problem. Would recommend going with two cyclinder Good luck red

hard to believe that the unit you have needs much, and this engine changing thing is no fun- but if are to change it out go with the (2) cylinder terry s/v stardust h30

Same Problem

Bob, I have the same problem. My mechanic is looking for parts to rebuild my motor. I know how you feel missing this great weather without power. This is a new boat for me & I would appreciate any suggestions you can share. Joe (Mt. Laurel NJ) jldicianni@yahoo.com
