Hello

I am in the repower mode. I am looking at replacing the 2qm15 with a 2YM 15
Or a 3YM 20 if they are truly remove and replace. If not I might bite the bullet and go 3YM 30. I would appreciate any advice on these engines.

I am also open to a used engine if anyone has a reliable one.

Thanks

I live in Destin area.

I can only sing the praises of my 3YM30. Much smaller and lighter than the 2QM20 it replaced. Probably more power than you need. I guess it would depend upon the price relative to the 20. You can see my install in "Owners Mods" under 37-cutter. In fact there are two 3YM30 installs there.

Besides e-bay and craig's list you could call Torresen and Mack Boring for used engines.

Think more than twice before doing it. Shaft diameter, stuffing box, propeller, strut. Engine space. An engine larger than needed might create unwanted vibrations. The 1987 J-37c had to have their engines replace because of that. They went to the 3GM30 and the vibrations stopped.
Check with the Hunter Owners Group.

So the 3YM30 is a direct drop in? Esp. to the trans etc?
