This past weekend was the Specialty Yachts Hunter Rendezvous in Telegraph Harbour, Thetis Island, BC. With more than 80 boats in attendance, it was both the largest event ever in Telegraph Harbour and as large as any Hunter rendezvous in North America.

The boats at the docks ranged from the 1980's Hunter 31 to the brand new 37 and 40 on up to an impressive assortment of 49's and 50's.

Specialty Yachts is celebrating its 50th year in business and is one of only two dealerships to represent the Hunter line for 40 years. Owner Lawrence Fronczek and crew put together a jam packed agenda of speakers, socializing, and just plain fun stuff.

Let's start with Telegraph Harbour, an extraordinarily beautiful spot in a province of beautiful spots. This photo doesn't capture a tenth of the mood of this quiet bay and the pristine little marina at its head.

John Peterson, president of Marlow-Hunter, made the trip from Florida and spoke on Saturday, talking about coming innovations and taking questions from a large audience.

There were seminars on diesel maintenance, safety inspections, and B&R rig tuning (shown below).

Sarah White, Specialty Yachts service manager and a well-known face in the BC Hunter community was on hand to lend assistance and answer questions.

The blindfolded dinghy race had enough participation to be complete chaos.

It was all too much for Riley, a 16 week-old retreiver.

Fortunately for Riley, there was plenty of time for dock socializing. Pictured are Mike and Mike and families, owners of a 44DS and 35.5, respectively.

There was a staggering amount of loot for the winners of the dinghy race, scavenger hunt, and a number of other awards that Lawrence's staff invented to find homes for all the great donations.

Kudos to Lawrence (shown here decked out on his commemorative 50th anniversary gold wig) for putting together one of the finest rendezvous it's been our pleasure to attend.

It is good to feel the renewed enthusiasm in the boating industry as projected by these pictures and the festivities sponsored by a Hunter dealer and the manufacturer. It may well be another indication that the economic recession is behind us and we can look forward to new and exciting times. Phil, thanks for the news and the pictures.

Having attended the Speciality Yachts extended (4 day) rendezvous, I can attest to this truly grand event. From informative speakers, to scrumptious food and lively entertainment the 4 sunny and warm days were simply jammed packed. Thanks for posting this snapshot of what took place at the gathering. And again thanks for your continued support and service to the Hunter community

Phil, great seeing you at the 2014 Hunter Rendezvous / Specialty Yachts 50th Anniversary four day celebration! I'm sure I can speak on behalf of all those in attendance, that the Specialty gang always goes above and beyond showing their appreciation to all Hunter owners with the fantastic food, beverages, games, talks & workshops for all to participate.

Hats off to Specialty! They truly out did themselves.
