Has anyone had thier winch drums rechromed? I've got two Lewmar 40 winches that look pretty shabby, although they still work pretty good. Has anyone refurbished the drums some other way that's atractive as well as long lasting? How about costs?
Haven't done it myself, but I would take the drum to a bumper shop - you can usually find them on the "wrong side of the tracks." Essentially these guys strip and dip obects like wheels, bumpers, etc. I am sure they could do your winch - just don't tell 'em what its for. Hope this helps! Rob
