Build a set of stairs/shelves

I needed extra storage for gally pots and pans and made a three drawer/three step "locker" for my 37.5 Legend. Don't know if there is room/configuration to do this on a 33 but extra drawers are always nice.

Nice idea, steps with drawers.

With my new engine there will be lots of room behind the steps. But how do you have drawers between the steps and still get adequate soundproofing? Any pictures? The back of my steps is thick insulation. Maybe just a big box well insulated and then openings between the steps. It would provide lots of storage space without making drawers with slides, etc. Then there is the problem of removing the steps for engine work. All that "stuff" in there would be heavy and probably fall out.

On a 37.5, there are 2 set of steps.

The bottom set of 3 steps is the front of the engine box with sound insulation behind it. The upper set of 3 steps goes from the top of the engine box to the cockpit, and is open both front and back. You can see through between the steps. I was also looking at building a new set of steps with storage to replace the upper steps. However, that would reduce the visibility from the aft stateroom to the main cabin, so we nixed the idea.

JC is correct

I just replaced the upper stairs on my 37.5 not the lower "front of the engin room" ones. Like I said (well typed really) I don't know if this will work on your set up. I wanted to move the batteries to a place that was lower to help with the boat being so tender. The ended up in the bilge on a shelf. This prompted the first mate to start putting the pots and pans behind the upper steps and lead to crashing when we tack. Neccessity is the mother of invention. She is now eyeing the volume under the nav station since "nobody ever even sits there and we only use it for the trash can and toolbox stroage". A good observation IMHO. Just have to figure out how to move the inverter and bat charger around for clearance. A storage locker for my tools!! I'm in heaven.
