Replacing Zincs

Hi,Does anyone happen to know the standard zinc sizes that go on a Cat 27 with a 5411 diesel inboad? I know there are two on my boat--one sand dollar size and another on the drive shaft. Gotta guy who will dive down and do it but I've got to supply the zincs, preferably without getting wet!). Thanks for the help

Hi Pat:The shaft on you C27 should be a 1".i don't know about the other one. Zincs are inexpensive and available from West marine and like stores.Dave S/V Westwind

Don't forget zinc in heat exchanger! Important.

To be 100% sure go to your shaft just behind the

engine and before your stuffing box and measure the diameter of the shaft. Be very careful and accurate on the measurement. That is the size of Zinc you should buy.As for the sand dollar sized one....I don't know what that is for (the strut?)....I don't see them used very often but it can't hurt.....I don't know if diameter size is as critical as the size bolt & thread into the metal you are protecting.
