Has anyone out there done any window replacements on an O'Day 25 or other model around the 1976 era? Any tips, concerns troubles. Thanks, Bill McManus

Bill, I need to replace mine too but don't know when. There has been discussion on the issue including how to and what sealing to use from folks who have done it. I agree with R.W. in that Rudy has supplied me with several pieces for my boat and I've been completely satisfied. I have one that is leaking a bit when it rains really hard. My frames don't look to be cracked anywhere and from what I remember of the archived discussions if you can remove the old ones without breaking anything you could then just replace the "glass" clean and reseal the frames and go. The full replacement ports are a bit pricey! Good Luck, Mike

I have been rebedding all items on our deck - a '78 - 25 - and was hoping that the small windows - in the head area would be simple - because they had been replaced by the previous owner - but once I got the screws off - I noticed I had a new project! The window opening - has some core material on the bottom side (it was rotting)- but none on the top or sides - and the screws are into the fiberglass - much like sheet metal screws - and the window is all plastic - This doesn't look good - what I am planning to do - is to look for a machine shop to make me some aluminum mounting brackets based on the plastic brackets - I would then use the outside bracket as is and discard the plastic bracket (it just seem to do anything but sit on the fiberglass - does not compress) - and then cut the inside bracket to fit around the hinges and the clamps - I expect that I will need to replace the core - I was thinking of using the brackets as a patern - find some marine plywood at the right thickness - cut in half - maybe not - don't know for sure - then use some 4200 adhesive and place the new core in - then epoxy the surface the window will go through - Then drill the holes that will go all the way through - get some new stainless steel bolts with cap nuts - need to have the measurement of the width just right - caulk and attach - tighten until it oozes out - and then wait a day or so to cure - and then tighen = I am concerned about how tight - the window is plastic - don't want to crack the plastic - need to be careful - If this works well - it will give me good insight into how to approach the other cabin windows - that is - with new aluminum brackets - and bolts that go through and tighen - but that will be another project!
