How do you replace the pendant (rope) that brings the centerboard up on a Oday 19' Weekender (1982 year)? specifically, how do you attach the pendant(rope) to the centerboard?

you need too safely pick the boat high enough too allow lowering the centerboard. It should then be obvious what is needed to replace the rope. I think I made an eye splice to a short cable that was already there. take your time and work with a friend.

Harley- It appears that the current pendant goes directly into the centerboard. Are you suggesting that I cut the pendant just above where it currently connects and splice or connect the two lines? NOt sure what an eye splice is......... Do appreciate the feedback. Jim

James, Look under forums - oday forums - photo projects. The first listing is centerboard rope or some such. Its on a 35 and you can find similar for other boats maybe even yours. They are all kinda similar. One thing which might seem obvious is that no matter how yours was attached and how you finally reattach be carefull that there is plenty of room as your board is pulled back up. If the knot, shackle or eye splice you use is too big it might not go all the way up or if it does it might not come down. Check the photo forums well. Lost of good ideas there. Good luck, Mike

eye splice

on my oday 23 the rope was connected to a short wire with a thimble on one end an a shackle on the other. You can find how to do a eye splice in Chapmans or almost any book of knots, I think it is in the boy scout hand book also.
