replacing stripes

I removed the vinal stripes from my hunter 34 last year because they were torn and otherwise damaged. When I tried to replace them I had two problems. One was getting them on straight. I made a tape dispenser for the purpose but it did not work very well. I think if I modify that I may be able to get them on fairly straight. The other problem was that after I put the stripes on there were a billion tiny air bubbles that I could not get out. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

Idea

You live in the heart of East Coast sailing, so there are very likely dueling signmakers all over the Eastern Shore. For $50 he or she can do the job better than you'd ever expect to. Some things are better left to the pros.

Good Advice

You are getting some great advice. Any of the sign places will make your stripes any color, length, or width. On our Hunter 31 the company that made our stripes, made them on one continuous piece of paper. That way all I had to do was cut the length I needed and stick them between the port windows and lay them on. Would have never gotten them straight by doing them one at a time. Use a plastic burnishing tool. You can get them at the sign place. But the best advice is to let them do if for a nominal fee. They have to do it right, and they do it more than you do. Simple.
