Replacing stanchion base

Hi folks, replacing a stanchion base on my 331. The description said "stanchion base - wood rail", and it noted in the schematic that it was replacing an obsolete part. I don't have a wood rail, but I was at the right place so I ordered it. When it arrived, it is not exactly the same. The one that goes with an aluminum rail is different, it is raised at the inboard side to let the water run underneath. (See the attached service bulletin for the difference between the two; scroll down for the second one).

Has anyone replaced one with the other? They do not make the other anymore. I wonder if it will be wobbly?

Thanks!

If you have an aluminum toe rail, you more than likely will want the base in the first illustration.

In the end I installed the one for the wood rail. I put a small piece of flat stainless with a s/s washer on top where the base sticks out on the deck. This make the whole base stable. I'll let you know how it goes at the end of the season.
