I have a 1996 Hunter 376 that needs the long side windows repalced. Does anyone know the type of material, (is it lexan?) the color shade and thickness? Any tips on how to get the window out.

Aren't you there with the boat? measure the thickness. observe the color and realize that lexan is a good choice. Pull the screws, cut the sealant and take the piece to a plastics shop or contact hunter for a new piece.

Jim,
I used 3/8 plexiglass (lexan is better). I attached mine to the outside cabin wall w/stainless machine screws. I picked up some nice neopreen gasket material from McMaster-Carr on the net. The whole process took a long time, but was well worth it!

Plexiglass/acrylic is the preferred product for this application. Do not use Polycarbonate/Lexan.

Polycarbonate is bullet proof, but is not UV protected. It will yellow and craze much sooner. Acrylic can also be buffed out if scratched.

I would think that a big company like Hunter would have those type of replacement parts in stock, along with the customer service staff to advise you..... Oh, Sorry... I was thinking of Catalina Yachts....never mind (Heh, heh).

Steve is right. To be a little more specific it is cast acrylic that you want. Select Plastics in CT can duplicate your current window or, as others have suggested, Hunter may have them too. I would be very, very surprised if they were polycarbonate as most all builders use cast acrylic.

Actually Joe,
I did, in fact, order these very side windows for my '01 420 from Hunter Customer service last year, (heh, heh)
