The cabin portlights in my Ranger 29 are badly crazed and one leaks pretty bad. Would love to find an entire replacement set. I could get lexan cut to order, but still can't find fresh gaskets, rim, etc, which have those distinctive shapes. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Same question

I have the same question, only for my Ranger 30. I also would like to find a replacement for the inside plastic molding, almost any suggestion would be better than what my currently looks like. Thank you for any suggestions and/or help.

Just make new ones

I replaced mine this year with cut plexiglass. I took the old window frames out and brought them to a plastics supplier. I had them cut the plexi to the same shape but 1" larger all the way around. I drilled holes about every 6" around the perimeter of the pieces, 1/2" in from the edge, and screwed them to the outside of the cabin. I sealed with 'Dow Corning 795' on the advice of a local boatbuilder. This way I retained the distinctive window shape, removed a source of leaks (the old windows leaked between the frame and the lens), and updated the look of the boat significantly. I don't have a picture but this was a simple job and two of us got all six windows installed in a long afternoon, about 4 hours and we could probably do the next six in half the time.

sounds promising

I hadn't considered cutting the plexi larger and essentially self-framing it. Bet that looks slick. I haven't had any leaks through the old frames, but now that you mention it, it's a common problem and no reason I wouldn't have leaks on new frames. Thanks, Willow. This is the sanest & prettiest idea I've yet heard. I have to sort out engine and plumbing first, but I'll let y'all know how this goes.

port lights

You can buy new port lights from Mark Plastics out of California. If I can find the phone number I will post it. He does not have a web site that I know of. You will most likely have to call the operator and do a state wide search for the listing.
