You could always seize it on
I sometimes use a whipping twine and make an eye in the braid line, then seize it. This is what I did for my pendant line that holds my rudder blade in the up position. What I like to to is use a "sailor's palm" and a large needle, and run the needle through the braid line and then tie a figure eight in the twine. Then, I'll serve the twine nice and tight with straight wraps close together, around the bight of the braided rope. When I get the rope wrapped about an inch or so, I then thread the needle again and stick the needle into the rope and pull it tight. I'll then take the twine and cross the wraps diagonally and stick the needle in and pull it tight and keep doing this. It comes out pretty decorative. It's similar to a palm and needle whipping. You can find out about this type of seizing in a book by Hervey Garrett Smith, entitled "Arts of the Sailor." It's a good way to make a tight eye around an object without having to splice the rope.Joe
