We have a 1990 Hunter 33.5 with the one piece lifeline stantions with integral base and welded wire bail loop reinforcement.

Would like to replace the existing ones with new 2 piece type with base plate/socket and separate (removable) post type stantions.

Question, does anyone know if there are metal backing plates under these stantions? Or are they just lag bolted into the deck?

Any sources for new stantions would be a great help too!

Thanks

We're bringing back the stanchions with the wrap around bail; in fact, we just received a prototype this week. It will be a copy of the old one with the exception of the black plastic cap on top, which will be the same shape but stainless.

We have a small change to make in the base but they should be ready to ship in December.

There is an encapsulated aluminum backing plate in the fiberglass under the legs.

Hi Phil, ok cool, now the ones I have already have a plate they are attached to on deck and the bolts go through that.

Also what angle will the stanchions be set at?

thanks!

As a Legend era owner, couple of quick questions on these. Do they have the same inner plastic plug that was in the lower half (I assume to enhance rigidity)? If so, do these have a drain/weep hole drilled into the stantion?

The issue that I've had with mine is that they get water in them, over the winter, that water can/will freeze which then pushes the plug up cutting into the lifelines and/or pops the weld on the bottom of the stantion.
