I realized when I opened the companionway this morning that the smell from the head is getting worse. In my post on 7/5 I mentioned getting rid of the overboard option and simplifying the plumbing. So this morning I began that project. I've removed all of the hoses and will install a new hose from the head to the tank. I replaced the vent hose a week ago. I replaced the head itself a few weeks ago because it was leaking. Obviously, I haven't removed the pump out hose yet. I'm having the holding tank pumped out in the next few days and then I can replace the pump out hose too. I've heard that these hoses can become permeated and allow odor into the cabin. Hopefully replacing them will take care of the problem.

I pulled out the old pump out hose today. Man, what a difference! The boat already smells better. I want to clean all surfaces near/behind the old hose before installing the new one. I'm looking forward to the final results.
