replacing galley stove

I want to replace the pressurized alcohol stove. I was curious if anyone has done this. There only seems to be one model of an Origo dual burner stove that would probably fit but I was wondering if anyone has done this and how much alteration needed to be done, hoping there might be a "drop in" replacement?

You can't go wrong with an Origo, they are very good units. If you have the original pressurized stove (the curtain burner) right now, and the case is in good shape, I went to Wal-Mart and bought a $35 Coleman propane camp stove. Took the guts out of the Coleman stove and they fit right in the Seaward stove that my boat came with. I use a disposable propane bottle that is stored outside in the fuel locker when not in use. I have an O'Day 26 where the stove hinges up 90 degrees out of the way, so the Origo stove would not work on my boat. Just a thought.Ben AllenMontgomery, AL"Latte Dah"O'Day 26

Stove replacement

Funny you should mention this. We bought our boat (O'Day 31) 18 months ago and the stove was frozen solid, the hoses leaked and it was an accident waiting to happen. After investigating what it would take to fix, I took the stove and hardware out and attached two horizontal 1x4 rails on the side of the icebox and berth where the stove used to be. I bought a short section of fake butcherblock counter top real cheap (damaged piece at Lowe's) and cut a hole that would accept my new Origo drop in stove. I cut the counter top to fit the opening and dropped it in and screwed it to the 1x4's. It works great.I also enclosed under the stove where the oven was and use it for tools, pots and pans.Total cost (other than the stove) was about $10.Good luck!
