Has anyone changed their fuel filter on their Universal M18 latley? I own a 1985 Catalina 27 and would like to replace this before cruising to the 1000 islands this weekend for 2 weeks. Any help or info passed on would be appreciated. Thank you. FOB.

Since no one has replied, I will

Yes, go to the forum archives, and type in fuel filter, click on exact words, and read. Also read at www.marinedieseldirect.com. C'mon, of course people have done this, and unfortunately English is perhaps a bad language to ask a question, but you close off the fuel flow at the lever, unscrew the filter, and replace it. Want details, buy a book or look further on the INTERNET. Sorry, but there's SO much information out there, so when it seems easy to simply ask a question, it appears easy. It's now getting to be a condition where the responders are irked that people ask questions. Sorry about that, we should be more polite and tell you where to look. Libraries, Google and others offer those services. So does this website. I am beginning to believe that these boards could be coming counterproductive. People are looking for answers, and most, if not all, have been asked and answered before, and the regulars" have seen it all, or most.] So, having gotten that off my chest (or fingers), I'll apologize again, hope you find the answer to your question, and keep coming back. I'll be away on a cruise, so you do have a chance! :)

And try this thread:

http://www.sailboatowners.com/forums/pviewall.tpl?fno=21&uid=73200280089&sku=2006193120940.20&rid=2006193220614.97&page=T&ystartat=21&yest=T#2006193220614.97 It seems that the confluence of un-specific questionS have exhausted those who may have the most to share. For the past five years, I've repeatedly, and sometimes even quietly, been asking people to include their boat types, sizes, etc. in their "signatures," or at least their questions. It's VERY hard to answer a question if we don't know what boat you are talking about. How hard can that basic issue be? YOU know what boat you have, but WE don't. I also just LOVE those "what's the BEST..." questions. But that's a separate rant... OK -- "Mom, WHAT'S THE best WIFE FOR ME..." We try to help, but it's becoming more difficult, without enough input, boat type, size, etc. How about helping the folks who really want to help?
