I am trying to replace the exhaust hoses in my 43'Center Cockpit Irwin MKIII (1987). The hoses run up the chase under the steering pedestal and are not really accessable through the small access door in the wall of the engine compartment located in the passageway between the main salon and the aft master bedroom cabin. Does anyone have experience in how to access these hoses for removal?

Hi Gary I had to replace mine 2yrs ago, and all I have to say is that we made up the vent lope prior to putting it up by the helm, and it was not easy. It took to men almost 2 hrs to get it done. I wish you well in your adventure. Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for your response. I fininshed the beast of replacing all hoses. I solved the problem of access by cutting an access panel into the engine compartment wall that is behind the vanity mirror in the aft owners cabin. I used a rotozip set for the exact thickness of the wall. I followed the shape of the cut out in the vanity, it made for perfect access to all hoses in the vent loop area inlcuding both the port and stbd. cockpit drain hoses. I was able to do the job alone because of this access. I also realized that it was easiest to make up the vent loop in advance. I also have a generator and it's vent loop is in the same space. I finished the cut out with a teak frame and notced out the shelf in the vanity to fit around the frame. It looks fine but you don't see it anyway because it is behind the mirror on the vanity. Have a great season, Gary
