We bought an almost unused 1998 H260 a few weeks ago, and the first mate has expressed a great interest in replacing the cushion covers and curtains with ones that have a "better" color. (I don't know what she means, but if it's a sign that she wants to spend a lot of time on board then I'm all for it!) The current forward and aft bearth covers and curtains have just been cleaned and are in great shape. I was going to post their pictures on Ebay to see if there was any interest, but I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had a better suggestion on how to give these a good home. Being a cost-concience sailor I hate to throw them away! Any thoughts or comments appreciated! Thanks, Mike

Reupholster?
The previous owner of my H37C did all the interior cushions with a fabric that she liked. Even if you have a professional do it the expense should not be that great. The attached photo is what is possible. This boat(same as mine) originally had the early 80's flat striped look.

Cushion Covers
I just purchased a '94 H26. Not sure if the cushions are exaclty the same dimensions but mine came with no covers on the forward v-berth cushions or the aft cabin cushions. We have blue vinyl seat cushions (surrounding the cabin table) that are in good shape. My lovely sailing partner wants to redecorate but if your covers would work we could possibly use them and the curtains. Let me know what you are thinking about price-wise and maybe give me a picture of the interior to see the color.

They seemed very reluctant: "we've never done it; you ought to call a reapolsterer." I'm going to contact a different dealer - I just want to know what Hunter is covering their cushions with today and buy some from them. It seems like it should be simple enough...

I guess you know that the cushions covers you have posted a photo are the ones offered by Hunter as an upgrade on the standard. I wonder if they could be dyed another colour for the quality of the fabric is very very good?

Cushion dying & quality
I did some checking and you're right - they are the upgraded fabric. The material is heavy enough to take a dye well, but still light enough to be cool in the summer. We're still going to get new though, since my first mate has found the material she wants from Hunter and has decided she wants new cushions to go with it. So if anybody wants these let me know at mikeharms@mac.com!

Hello, my apologies for the late responce, lotta grand ideas have been posted. I am not pushiung my Shop or stuff, just put that Title so you can see the quality of work we do. I like the Dye idea, but that is dependant on the Condition of the Material and Stitching, as it is now. You can visit most any Auto Paint Supply store and find Fabric Dye that is of very high quality, is a simple Spray can, and great for a DIY project, and if you mess it up, well you can allways go with the Recover with new. I suggest that you have a Pro show you how to apply it. Fabric choice plays a very crucial role, a low Thread Count, (# of threads per sq Inch) = a less than adequate material for Nautical. Cover over Cover is one way to go and keep the OEM, but is better to Replace with new and save the OEM. Mine is a 1981, I am doing Cushions in it now. New Fabric, new Foam, cost is a little better than buying new 'Ready Made'. But is still expensive even at wholesale prices! Most Sail Lofts do Upholstery Work, (specializing in Marine, of course) may I suggest you speak with a Loft and or an Upholstery shop in your area to get an idea of prices? Johnny HUN22
