The original solenoid valve for the CPG tank/system is failing, so I'm trying to replace it. The fittings are, of course, hard to access, so I want to remove the entire sub-assembly of the pressure regulator, solenoid, and nipples, disassemble it, and replace the solenoid. The p-regulator is mounted, in our boat that we just bought, to a roughly 4"x4"x1" piece of hard plastic, which is in turn mounted to the inside surface of the stern tank locker. I've accessed the other side of the locker wall, and see that there is a circular mounting plate and what appears to be a rivet in the center which likely connects through the wall to that piece of plastic.
Has anyone removed one of these before? Is the plastic piece just hung on the rivet, or are they permanently attached, making it arduous to remove the sub-assembly? Will a Sawzall be needed for this (j/k)?
1,000 thanks in advance for any and all comments!:D

We have a 2000 model 321. Plan to do some work on it Sunday since it is already in the cradle. I will try to remember to take a look. I have not taken it out before. I thought it would be easy...

I appreciate the backstopping.

Not sure this will apply to your boat. I have a 1999 B381 and was able to remove the propane locker and install the new solenoid which attaches via two screws on the outside of the propane locker. Thera are Several screws to remove under the gasket and it lifted straight up. There was just enough slack in the gas line and power wire. I did have to cut/reconnect power from the access panel in the aft cabin. Ward Richardson at Beneteau helped solve the mystery when I had the same question.

Thanks, sounds pretty much the same, except for the screw vs. plate. Will report back.

Yessir, but probably just for the beneteau owners party. I think Saturday is the day for us to gawk at the boats.

I used to get invited...

Beneteau owners party! Nobody told me about that!
In the past, Beneteau used to send out invitations, but I fell off that list. Maybe you fall off if you have not purchased a new boat within 12 years?

Folks: all the advice was spot on. It turned out that it was just a pair of screws, heads accessible from the aft locker; one of the screw heads was inconveniently obscured by the circular plate I had described. I still don't know what that plate is for. Anyway, once the screws were out, I pulled the entire assembly, replaced the solenoid, remounted it, spliced in the control wires, and presto. Of course, I've redesigned the mount in my head... and now I know the oven won't light! Anyway, that's another thread. Thanks again!
