On our 235, there are regular cleats to tie off the jib sheets. They are a pain. We thought about buying the 5" Schaefer self jamming cleats that would go back into the same holes. At least it would be a quicker release than what we have now, right? Has anyone done this? Anyone have a better suggestion?

Check out the discussion of the spinlock cleats in this thread:

Sounds like they may be the best solution. On our boat I just use the existing cleats, though. When I sheet the jib in, I run the sheet from the winch straight over the companionway entrance and cleat it off on the side I'm sitting on so it's within easy reach on the high side of the boat. It does get in the way some when going in and out of the boat, but it's manageable.

I'm looking for anything that will do the job right, not be a nuisance, and fit in the existing holes from the existing cleats. I wondered about the cam cleats but didn't know whether they would fit the existing holes. ??? I'll check it out. We already cut holes out for speakers and my husband really wasn't too keen on doing that either! I'll look into the Winchers too. THANKS!
