What is the easiest and best way to replace the centerboard uphaul line?

Easiest Way

Have it done by the hunter dealer. That is the easiest way.

Sling

I'm not positive but I believe the boat has to be lifted off the trailer to replace the line. I think I'll replace mine next year. That line seems to take alot of wear and tear being pulled through the line stopper.

A crazy idea

I have a friend w/ a 23.5 too, great to sail with and share ideas with. Believe it or not he is planning to gain access to the centerboard by pulling a halyard port or starbord from dock or shore with ballast empty. This will (he said) cause the boat to heal over enough to alow him to work on lines and replace the centerboard uphaul with fins and PFD. I can't wait to see him try this but thought I would pass on the idea...

Can be difficult

Hi I had the bottom painted on my 23.5 last fall. I figured while they had it in the slings was a good time to replace the centerboard halyard. It turned out to be a major job because the centerboard had a large split in the fiberglass. It was repaired using West System epoxy. The stainless steel bolt/nut that holds the centerboard assembly in place had been overtightened at the factory and the threads were ruined. That required re-threading at a machine shop. I had considered doing the halyard replacement job myself, but given all the complications I was glad not to have to deal with them on the trailer or...as in your friends case, in the mud.
