Replacing cb pendant on 222

I purchased a 222 at the end of the year last year and am in the process of getting it ready for launching. The centerboard pendant is very frayed and I doubt it will survive another season. I have purchased a new pendant from D&R marine. My question is, is it possible to replace the pendant w/o hoisting the boat up with a travellift or other device?

I just changed my pendant on a 222. I used the lift just before they put her in the water. It was a ten minute job. The center board had to come almost completely down as the pendant attaches to the top of the free end of the board. Some people have done it while it was in the water. I found the lift to be the easiest.

Easy on Land but ...

Mark, I have done this both ways - on an O'Day 23.When the pendant broke I had a friend who was a diver replace it - the difficulty is feeding the new line up through the tube into the cockpit. Later I decided to change the rope/wire pendant to an all rope pendant - I did this while the boat was stored during the winter - It was much much easier.So the choice is yours but as suggested .... once the boat is on a lift or on the hard it is much easier - Plus you can inspect the CB to see the condition of the area where the shackle attaches.Good luck - cheersJames
