Hello All,
I'm new to this site. I'm looking for Ideas on replacing the floor on a 1969 34' Islander that I just bought after 4 years of talking to the owner on price. the boat is in really great condition considering the years.
I'm from the Buffalo,NY area and the summers are short, I think she'll be on the hard for this year to do the job right. Anyone that has any info on this boat, I would be greatful.

Is it teak and holly? Is the replacement for cosmetic reasons or is it more structural? Photos are always welcome too.

Congratulations

We need more details about the boat. Islander was built in many models. I have seen a few but never two of the same model or year.
Mine has a full keel and a deep bilge. Originally there was a water tank in the bilge under a tabbed in painted plywood floor. I replaced it with black walnut and put my holding tank in the bilge in place of the water tank.

1969 34' Islander floor replacement

Sorry all,
This is all new to me. It is a plywood floor and it's for structural reasons. the previous owner had put an indoor carpet in and it was like a sponge. I need to lift the port side of the seat to get at the whole floor. I will ad some pics down the line, after cleaning the pack rats stuff out. Mine has a deep bilge to, but just a pump and speed indicator that I know of.

I'm hoping to catch a 1967 Islander 34. It is sound, I think, but the PO has taken out some of the cabinetry, and then he went and died. I'm not at all sure it will all be found.

I would greatly appreciate a few interior pics, so that I can see how it should look in restoration. I will probably change a few things, but it would be great to have a place to start. Anyone?? Dennis
