I am going to replace the bowsprit on my C-30. I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this. Specifically, I want to know how to deal with the forestay when removing the bowsprit. I know there are probably other things that I need to consider - so, any advice is appreciated.

Bowsprit

Hi Bill: I recently removed my bowsprit from my 1996 MkIII C30. It sounds like you are going to do it with the mast still up. Is that a correct assumption? What year is your boat? Have you purchased your new bowsprit yet? If you are replacing the bowsprit with the mast still standing, you can use a halyard attached to one of the bow cleats as a temporary headstay. With all the other standing rigging in place, you should not have a big problem. I would not do it on a windy day. If you have any other questions, you may e-mail me at westwind6371@att.net. Good luck Dave S/V Westwind
