I want to replace the rope with slugs. Is this a do it yourself project? The main has a few more seasons left and I'd like to use it up.

Try this

Any competent tailor shop in town can do this if you take a photo of someone's main whose webbing you like, so she can emulate it.

Slide Conversion

Paul, I would rather see you have it done by a sail loft. There are some issues regarding slide spacing(especially around the reefs) that would be hard for a novice to determine on his own. You don't need to remove the rope but you will have to adjust the offset of the tack ring so that the sail doesn't have a wrinkle emanating from the tack. There are a couple of different ways to attach the slides to the sail and a sailmaker could give you the best advice on which is the best for your configuration. Thanks, Bill C. Doyle Sails
