Hello all, I am interested in purchasing a Catalina 30. Found one that will certainly need all new lines for me to feel comfortable going out to sea. Has anyone done the complete package and remember how much it cost? I am trying to get as realistic as possible with my expectations on costs before the purchase. Thanks!

A Catalina 30 manual should certainly be available on the internet, it will include all the OEM lengths.

Also try Catalina Direct, and the store on this website which has a VERY GOOD running rigging calculator.

You probably know this already but get exact quotes on all lines you need plus the ones you know for a fact you don't need. Double that and that will be half your total cost.

I meant the running rigging. After going to catalinadirect.com, it seems like $1000 should cover the project...?

Having just replaced 8 blocks and only 3 of my running rigging lines on my Newport 33, only 9 more blocks and 7 lines to go, I can only say, What Kind of Sailing do you want to do? And how big is your budget? On what I've replaced to date I've spent a Grand easy. But have replaced some tin and plastic junk with Guarhuer Cruising Gear, and the cheap line with the Good Stuff, not top of the line mind you, but a cut above the factory OE for my boat. I now have old lines running over smooth new blocks and the difference is palpable, and where I have the new lines running over new blocks? Wink Wink Nudge Nudge "Say No More! It is like New. I'm a Day Sailor / Gunkholing Cruiser, with no desire to Race as I do enough of that when I'm on the clock. So ask yourself, what's important to You? what is your budget? And how do you sail? Cheers!

I bought new running rigging from the folks that host this forum. They have a nice ordering tool that works well. It you terminate the lines yourself You can save a bunch of money.

I whipped and dipped the ends or all my lines myself and use halyard hitches with my old shackles. Turned out nice and makes me feel salty.

do you intend to replace whatever mainsheet and traveler hardware you have now? if so, and i think it makes sense, contact garhauer, and don't forget the boom vang and topping lift and block.

if you have schaffer hardware you can send to them and have it refurbed and it will be new again
