My centerboard has detached from my Hunter 23.5 after drifting sideways into an unknown underwater brush pile. I have ordered a new centerboard pin and the plastic bushing that appears to fit in the centerboard. My questions are
1. Am I missing any other parts that are necessary to reinstall the center board. I am concerned parts may have fallen into the lake and I am unaware I am missing them.
2. What keeps the centerboard pivot pin from sliding out sideways once the centerboard is re installed?
3. Is the centerboard designed to break away in the event of a grounding due to expansion of the centerboard bracket and thus centerboard pivot pin release?
4. Would it be possible to insert a longer centerboard pivot pin with castellated nuts on the ends to prevent above mentioned bracket expansion and loss of the board and pin.
Thank you all for any help on this topic.
