Replacement Windows

We have some star type wear patterns on our windows in our 1999 H-260. These are both in the front two windows and the side windows. We suspect possible Hail Damage. We're wondering if anyone else has attempted to replace the windows in their boat? Can you buy them pre-cut - of do you hve to cut the plexiglas yourself? How big a job is it to:

a) Cut replacement panes?
b) Remove existing windows?
c) Install new panes without introducing new Leaks and ensuring that the job looks OK?

a) Don't try to cut acrylic yourself. It is expensive so you are better off having a pro do it for you.

b) Removing the windows is just time consuming. Remove as much sealant as possible and then start to break the seal. You can use high test fish line to help you cut the existing sealant.

c) You should use DOW795 or something equivalent. You need to mask off the area so you do not get sealant on anything that it does not belong on. Normally they drill screw holes in the acrylic to hold it in place while the sealant cures. Then you remove the screws after it has cured. Then the screw holes can filled with sealant too.

If you windows are NOT flat you may want to have someone install the new ones for you.

Follow the advice given particuraly Steve Dion's advice. Thanks Steve. Also, do not use acetone in this application as it will melt plastics to include lexan and/or mar them. I did that once in my early years and learned a valuable lesson not to mention the cost.
