I am considering replacing the winches on my 1986 272 LE, suggestions and experiences welcome. Most of my sailing is singlehandling, so self tailing is a desired feature, not the rubber rings but honest to goodness self tailing. I am only interested in cruising primarily on the middle Chesapeake Bay, no plans for racing ever. Price is always a consideration, but value and usage more so. Should I consider increasing size when replacing?, will that add to installation problems?, is this a easy/moderate or difficult task.
