Hello, All: I just purchased a 2002 Oceanis 393. The teak trim on the companionway hatch & cockpit seats is so weathered that it makes sense to replace rather than refinish. Does anyone know if/how I can order replacements? Fair Winds, RickH

Try Beneteau or the 393 group

Beneteau is quite responsive if you need trim etc. One of the guys in the 393 group ordered matching wood from B and built a neat looking locker where the little seat is in the forward cabin. Rick I http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beneteau393/ beneteau393 : Beneteau393 Group

Try refinishing?

While I don't know how bad it is; have you tried to refinish it at all? Just scrubbing it with some water and bleach should bring it back nicely. That's the nice part about teak, it comes right back with just a good scrubbing. You might try a spot before you go through all the work of replacing it.

Teak replacement

Before I'd replace the teak, I'd try West Marine's Two Step Heavy Duty Teak Cleaner. This stuff is really powerful and worked wonders on my weather beaten teak. $15 would be a pretty cheap solution to the problem if it works for you. Word of caution on application.... make sure the surrounding deck and the hull around the scuppers stays wet. The cleaner can leave a brown stain if the gelcoat surfaces get dry. Other than than, it's easy to use. When it drys, use teak oil or if you like a hard surface, West Marine Woodpro works pretty well.

I used pressurewasher

Hi Rick, ours was extremely weathered (barely see it was wood) and the teak was loose on the seats. After cleaning the surface under the teak I glued the wood back on, then put black sealant on around the wood.... I then pressurewashed it really well (and close) sanded it a bit and put on teak oil. cleaning the teak was easy, getting the sealant and seats to look nice was MESSY and hard.... I'd look into cleaning it, for me pressurewasher was the way to go

How to remove old panels??

When you find out how to remove the old panels (carefully) let me know. I have some on my 323 that have gotten water underneath them because the sealant has separated. (by the way, where do you keep your boat in Kaneohe? We will be visiting there in September to see my mother-in-law)
