Stripes & Tapes
If you find that you can no longer get the original graphic stripes through Hunter, You could change to solid color royal blue, navy blue and/or silver tapes from West Marine. I used 2" wide silver, spaced 3/4" above 4" navy blue for my '86 Hunter 28.5 hull stripes. You can also cut the replacement cabin top stripes from the same tapes. The tapes have a paper backing which you peel back about 18"-24" at a time as you apply them, squeege them down to remove air bubbles, and then peel back the clear plastic protective top coating. Mark the location on the hull or cabin top with a pencil dot every 18" and keep removing the paper backing as you pull the tape across one or two pencil marks.Carefully scrape off the deteriorated originals with a wall paper scraper. Some people recomend using a hair dryer or heat gun on low heat; I found the scraped alone worked best, then cleaned up the remaining adhesive with 'Goof Off" adhesive remover.
