does anyone know where to obtain a replacement solar panel for a 1991 hunter legend 37.5.the company that made the original no longer exists and it would be nice to get a replacement that would fit right in the same spot.

I located and purchased this panel a few days ago ..
UPG 87501 20-Watt Mono-Crystalline Solar Panel
( you can find it on Amazon.com )
The panel is "hard" (mono-crystalline) instead of flexible, and is mounted in a (removable) aluminum frame, ... but, it measures 16.33" x 19.68", which is a nice match for my (our??) old panel.
I purchased one. It arrived 2 days ago. I removed the panel from the frame it's delivered with and it looks like it will work nicely as a replacement. However, because of the current "interesting" weather here, I have not actually been able to see how it will fit on the boat.
If this is the same size panel as the one on your boat, it may be of interest to you.
I have an '01 H420 w/ a deck mounted solar panel designed to trickle charge the start battery. Like your's, my panel needs to be replaced; and, like you, I have also been looking for a replacement for several years, without success, ... until ...

I also have a 91 Legend 375 I purchased a year ago. The starboard frame was cracked and the panel was shot. I purchased a 30 watt "hard" panel from Amazon and made a frame out of teak to fit within the indentation If you are interested in what was a PIA process (it took two weeks of nights and six coats of varnish) but looks really great I will post the details.
If it's floppy, you can get a close replacement size from West Marine. I found one there, but haven't replaced it. It's low on my list.

The original company (Sovonics) did go out of business many years ago. I believe the item (MA-6, MA-12, MA-21 or MA-33) you're referring to is now being made by PowerFilm. http://www.powerfilmsolar.com/products/rollable-portable-remote/r7
The R7 is very close to the same spec's that I received from Hunter for my h376 Sovonics MA-6 panel however, the cost ($18 / watt) of the R7 is many, many times that of a larger, better made ridged panel.
