Has anyone had any experience with replacement rudders from Ida Sailor? My rudder was lost during a collision, and I need a new one. The price is much lower than D&R's, and there's a lifetime warranty. Any thoughts?
I'm acquainted with the IdaSailor rudders that are made for the West Wight Potters. The construction quality is very good but, due to the materials the IdaSailor rudder is made from, they are considerably heavier than the original equipment. If you leave your rudder on the transom full-time this may not be an issue but if you remove it for trailering you might want to inquire about how much heavier it is.
I am having to replace the lower gudgeon on my '78 Oday 25 - the rudder hit a low point - Got me thinking about how I've heard the 25 is good in shallow water - because of the swing keel - but what do you do with the rudder? -I took a look at the link you supplied - the kick up rudder for the 192 looked keen! - has anyone used seen a kick-up for a 25?
