I need to replace the opening ports on my 1979 37c. The plastic ports are starting to leak. The current design retains water on the outer sill. Of course, when we open the port the water drains into the boat. Need manufacturer info and costs, if known. Stainless would be my preference. Thanks

Mike: Check this out. http://www.newfoundmetals.com/ They make a bronze port and a chrome version. Very nice quality and nearly a direct replacment for the Gray ports.

Metal or plastic?

I also plan to install New Found Metals portlights, probably brass. My H37C ports do not leak but some of the spigots are cracked and they look tacky. It'll cost around $2200. to do them all, four 5x12's and seven 7x14's. A fellow H37C owner, Mike Alge, is presently installing them and warns that the cabin thickness and therefore spigot length is different between the main salon and the forward ports. I checked out the Beckson rain drain model at West Marine(www.beckson.com/). You can save between 60 and 80 dollars per portlight with these plastic models. They really won't collect water but the seal is flat plastic against rubber rather than the sharp edge that we now have. These are cam locked but only two where we now have four.
