Replacement Lexan companionway slider

Looking for a new slider or material to fashion a replacement for the companionway slider on my H28.5.I have a 12" crack I tried to seal with claer epoxy, it doesn't seam to stick to the Lexan.I checked with a glass replacement store, they can get a material for about $80. Is that a good number? Thanks in advance

If that slider is anywhere near the size of ..

the slider on a H26 (approx 2 1/2' by 3 1/2' and 1/2" thick)I'd jump all over it in a heartbeat for that price. Ray

Check with Acme Plastics Paterson NJ

A previous posting had gotten lexan companionway slats at Acme. They should be able to deal with the cover too. Check the Y2000 archives- keyword "Acme"Jim McCue

Sounds too cheap for Lexan

Saw a 4 X 8 sheet of 1/2 inch Lexan for just under $800. Not sure how you could do a slider for 80.(But then maybe the place I checked was trying to rip me off.)

I am a plastic goods fabricator, they probably quoted you for plexiglas. I have a H28.5 and my companionway is 1/2" smoke plexiglas. If they are quoting lexan, I want their name so I can have mine done too. If you are interested in repairing yours, try solvent cement made for the plastic. Just replaced my companionway hatch cover

I just finished replacing my companionway cover over the Memorial Day weekend. I contacted Hunter last year after I broke it and they said the original was Plexiglas. I had a hard time finding a supplier that would sell a less than full sheet piece of Plexiglas, but did find one eventually. I paid $104 for the piece cut to size, gray tinted. If you are getting the same thing for $80, more power to you. By the way, lexan scratches much easier than plexiglas and the Plexiglas cover on my 28.5 lasted 14 years before a clumsy oaf (me) landed on it in heavy weather. I'm just glad it stopped me. Good luck
