Replacement LED lights

I for the life of me can’t find it any more, but there was a discussion here not that long ago about LED lights to replace the 6x6 lights found on many boats from the 80’s era. They were about the same size and they had a master switch or individually switched option. Does anyone here remember the convo or where I could find those lights?

The ones in my boat are next to useless with only 2 not being totally rusted. I need 6 at least!

I used inexpensive rectangular RV LED fixtures on my C-30. They lasted the 9 years I had the boat with no problems. Looked around to see if I had any data on the exact fixture but no dice, sorry. SWMBO required "warm white" color which was a bit more difficult to find. I managed to find a position where they covered up the old screw holes completely,

They were similar to these: Amazon Linky But there are a bizzilion types of RV lights about that can be used.

The C-30 has a great spot to run LED strip lights up each side of the underside of the deck (where the stanchion mounting hardware is accessed) it's hidden and gives a nice glow to the interior for ambient lighting.

For the 387 I used recessed lights, there's a gap between the headliner and the deck. The C-30 has a solid deck/headliner so you need surface-mount lights.

The recessed lights (also cheap RV lights) with some adjacent switches I put in:

Some folks may gripe with my using cheap RV lights, but on both boats the replacement fixtures were far beyond what Catalina installed at the factory. (May say more about Catalina than my being cheap.....:) )

We kept all the fixtures and just replaced the bulbs from Marinebeam.com. They work well and do not cause radio interference as some of the cheap ones do.

I kinda wish I could do that, but they are shot. One doesn't even have enough metal left to hold the light bulb, One had a shattered lens, I cant get the bulb out of 2 of them and the other 2 are good. So re-use is not currently an option unfortunately. I bought some lights for my MacGregor 25 and kept them after I sold her, but they are for external switches only. I will possibly use them as accent lighting in the salon area (under the deck as described above) but that's a maybe not a for sure.

I don't think this is what you need but it will provide a new area to search.
