I am wondering where a good place to buy gauges might be? The typical outlets here in seattle are extremely over priced and mainly carry electronics. And the next question is can I use the same transducer that is already in the boat or do I need to install another one for Knots? They seem to all be the same construction. thanks!

It sort of depends on which instruments and which brand(s) you're looking for. There are many online marine suppliers that have parts at great prices. I have found www.shipstore.com to be very low priced for electrical items. There is also www.wmjmarine.com - I have received good prices and good service from them. They are a Raymarine dealer too.

New Instruments

I purchased my ST60's through Pyacht on the web about a month ago. After I bought mine, I found out mine old ones were easy to repair. I could make you a good deal on a full that have not even been out of the box.

If they are real old SR Mariner instruments, you van get them rebuilt for short money by SR Mariner. Defender still has 4 inch round instruments made by Moor Electronics, and they are priced right!

Hard to believe someone else didn't mention it, but have a look on ebay. Lots of sailboat stuff on there, and if you can find the same brand, probably the transducer will work. If you want to put a speed transducer on and currently do not have speed, you will have to replace the transducer.

Dave's Marine Electronics

Check out this site. Dave's Marine Electronics http://www.brokenlegdave.com/manufacture_product_lines.htm Your question needs to be a little more explicit. What instruments do you have? What size/type vessel? Do you have a budget?

Raymarine ST60 Promo Pack

Personally, I think the Raymarine ST60 Promo Pack is a great deal for Wind, Depth, and Speed with all the transducers/cables ($1244). You could give The Offshore Store a call, located off Northlake in Seattle (206-632-3025).

Navman

All here seem to be stuck on Raymarine. Navman instruments are available for $US 996 for the package that includes depth, speed, and analog relative wind as well as a repeater. Less for the package with the digital rel wind. I have a set on my boat and they have been trouble free.
