Ed H -
The SeaDek product looks nice too. They have many colors to choose from.
Thanks!

I just received some samples of the SeaDek. The stuff seems like it would be pretty nice for outside the head, might even consider it for in the shower. The material is about 1/4" thick, made from soft squishy closed-cell foam. There are little raised dots on the surface that should provide good traction when wet, but still be comfortable for bare feet. It has an adhesive backing which seems like it would stick to most surfaces. It looks easy to keep clean and should be warm to step on.

Despite what the product literature says, I'm not sure I'd use this material outside. It doesn't look like it would hold up all that well to UV. It also doesn't look that "tough." I think it would be prone to cuts if something dropped on it. And I think the raised nubs would wear off pretty quickly in high traffic areas. It should have nice thermal and sound deadening properties.

So, I think I'll go with the SeaDek for below. Now to pick a color ....

Gary- I am sorry to learn that it does not appear to be tough enough for exterior application... I wanted to put it on the foredeck.
So what color did you select?

Ed - Before you rule out the SeaDek you should order some samples and check it for yourself. (SeaDek sells four pieces sample pieces of one color for $4 and free shipping - take less than a week for them to arrive) Certainly SeaDek claims it is suitable for outdoors on decks, etc. But I can tell you the material is not tough like say vinyl, so that is why I have my doubts.

Another product you might consider is Pyramid Mat: http://www.americanfloormats.com/pyramid-runner-mats/

I came across this stuff at a local chandlery. It is tough vinyl, would be great non-skid, and comes in a variety of colors. But the surface would not be friendly to bare feet if that is important to you.

As far as color, the Admiral and I both like the light sand. However, we did notice the material picks up dirt from the soles of your should pretty readily, so I haven't ordered yet. Trying to find some of the cork squares to compare.
