Forgive me if I use the wrong terminology. The cleats I use to hold the jib sheets, just aft of the winch, are what I am interested in. One of them on my boat barely holds. Pops out everytime the wind gusts. There seems to be a lot of play, or slop, in one of the cams. Haven't taken it apart, but I can see the balls inside (appear to be nylon or plastic, something other than metal) look like they're trashed. Do I replace the entire mechanism, or can I buy the ball bearings and rebuild it? My boat is in storage at the lake, I'd like to get the part ordered; anyone know the brand and size of that part?

1 1/2 inch bolt to bolt.

I bought new ones for my 91 26S this summer and you can get them at West Marine, they are the ones that are 1 1/2 inch from center to center on the bolts.

Me too...

new ones...I like Harkens...they are taller than many others and are great replacements...last forever, and if they don't you can rebuild them. The stock ones that came on my boat (Schaefer) deformed and died within a couple of years...the Harks have lasted at least 4 times as long. Oh yeah Marshall, borrowing is fine ;)

I need this too...

My cam cleats sit on about 2" teak SPACERs. One side is blown out, and is missing bearings. -I should look for 1.5" centered bolt holes? correct? any idea on cost? any issues on replacing these I should know ?

correctamundo...

I replaced mine with Harken 150 cam matics with aluminum pawls and they have outlasted those plastic Schaefers that came on the boat 4:1 so far. 1.5" centers and good for between 1/8" and 1/2" rope.
