It was my first time sailing my used O’day when we made the turn upwind and broke the centerboard in two. I have the forward part that remained in the trunk with the pin, the rest is on the bottom of the river. It’s a very discomforting sound when you loose a centerboard.
So now I need a new one; I was thinking Plexiglas core with fiberglass coating, or ¼” steal with fiberglass coating. Anyone out there with any centerboard building experience? The model is an O’day 20.
