Hello Everyone I am very exited to have found this owners group.
We just purchased a new to us 1984 Yamaha 30-1 Sailboat.
A few days ago.
Wondering if anyone has had luck ordering parts form the Yamaha catalog(included with the boat) for spare parts and fittings in Canada (BC)

I Have a broken hatch bracket wondering if anyone has had luck ordering it. In the manual they have a list of replacement parts but trying the Yamaha rep in my town was not fruitful since they did not recognize the part number

Welcome to the SBO Forum. Congrats on your new to you sailbaot.

Reading your intro "Yamaha 30-1 CA Vancouver Island New to sailing. lots of power boating experience."

I am not sure about powerboats, but on many sailboats, the builder constructs the hull and then buys parts, like hatches, from vendors. This is why your local Yamaha dealer may be unable to identify the part. An additional issue is that the previous owner may have found the hatch a problem and replaced it with another that Yamaha did not use.

Look at the hatch for a label or manufacturer's number. You might look to other hatch makers for help.

An online possible resource is "HatchMasters" Hatch Repair - HatchMasters
They have helped me in the past.

There is no support for Yamaha sailboats from Yamaha. I base this on reading a few internet posts from a decade ago or more. Parts support dwindled in the 90's and by the mid 00's was nonexistent. A wrecking yard is an option, although an unlikely one. Wish I had better news. You'll need to be creative.

When Yamaha left the boat-making business, it was over. They made good, solid boats that owners liked. The only problem was that there were not enough boat owners to keep them making boats.

Thanks for the help folks, I might try a metal fabricator.

Seems like the part number is google-able in the UK hence me wondering. @jssailem the manual has a parts catalog with a part number for each bracket.
