Over the winter I replaced a sea cock, tapered fitting thread on the sea cock onto the straight thread of the thru-hull. The folks at west marine advised me not to use PTEF tape when I fitted it, as its a tapered thread.. But is seems to have a very slight leak. Do I need to remove and refit the next time the boat is hauled ? Or do you think it might fix itself as the green fur builds up on the threads ? Help. - And thanks, Sven.. Beneteau 281. A little pipe dope has never hurt anything that is

threaded and intended to carry fluids. When next you can deal with it take it apart and add some pipe joint compound, either teflon tape or paste. I prefer the paste but that is just me and fifty years of putting pipes together.
