I have a new to me Beneteau Oceanis 370 (1991). I would like to replace the rubber rail on the stern sugar scoop. Has anyone done this and is there a source for the rubber rail?

Thanks,
Mark

Would be interested to know as well. We have a '99 461 and the rubber trim no longer meets the teak toe rail. 1.5" gap. Was pulling up so we had a local do some repair to anchor it down and seal it but i would be interested to know if they can be purchased (probably from beneteauusa) and what is involved in replacing.

I'm very sure this has been covered before, but I don't know what words you'd use to do a forum seach. I wich I'd kept track of it, as I'm sure my 323 will need it sometime.

Hi, We replaced the buffer strip on our B393 a couple of years ago after some idiot had put a soft rubber moulding on there which just fell off first time in a seaway!!! The hard PVC? moulding is available from Beneteau.
The secret is to heat the moulding before you try to apply it, we tried a heat gun without success in the end we put it in a big drum of water with a gas heater underneath and brought it close to boiling, applied lots of white sileastic adhesive/sealant to the transom join and just fed the moulding friom one end. Worked fine but we did put a couple of 6mm SS bolts at the top ends and 2 around near the bottom just to secure it, but i am not sure these were necessary.

best of luck

I did it today!

Great timing for your post. I just put a new vinyl trim on the stern of my 2002 B361 today. I ordered the vinyl from Beneteau (about $90). As others have said, it is a bitch to get it on. It was 85 degrees here in Chattanooga today so I went for it. In preparation, a couple of seeks ago I had "mounted" the vinyl on two 8-foot 1 x 4s to try to straighten it out. It helped some. I also used a hair dryer/heat gun. The thing that seemed to help the most was soap and a small crowbar. At any rate, I got it done, but will probably be sore for a week.
Also, after I finished, there were lots of black marks from shipping and from the rubber mallet I used, so I wiped the vinyl with MEK (very lightly)! It looks fabulous. The boat looks brand new, since I had the hull buffed last month.
Go for it, and you will save a month's membership at the gym. :snooty:
