I have a 27' 1981. It is time to replace all the windows. Over the years they have become cracked and the little white knobs are starting to break off. Where could I find a set that fits properly. John J. Brady JJBrady@bop.gov

gray ports

John, I just finished with this project this past spring. You don't have too many options for replacements. The larger port in the main saloon is 7"x 15". The only direct replacement is the same one that came out. Bomar #G715-AD27, available through JSI for $86.69 ea/1999 price. The port in the head and foward cabin is 5"x 12". This size is pretty much a standard and can be obtained from different companys. Again if you want the direct replacement the Bomar part number is G512-AD27, also available through JSI for $76.39 ea./1999 price. JSI also has replacement parts for these port (Gaskets, lenses & knobs) if your frames are in good shape. I went a different route altogether. I did not like the plastic to begin with so I replaced mine with quality bronze ports with glass lenses. The trick here is that as I mentioned earlier, the port in the main saloon is unique. The ones I bought were 7"x 14" and you will have to fill in around them to get them to fit properly. A little bit of trouble but is possible. The 5"x 12" drops right in with no problem. They are available from newfound metals. web. address www.newfoundmetals.com. The phone for JSI is 800-234-3220. Web. adress www.jsisail.com. Good luck on your project. Nothing to me is worse than having water on the inside of the boat! Unless of course its poured over your favorite wiskey on the rocks. Bucky Sherman S/V Escape
