I Did It
I replaced my alcohol stove with propane a couple of years ago. It's not a difficult project but needs to be done carefully to ensure a safe installation. West Marine sells a small tank with locker that fits in the stern lazerette. The locker and tank plus the necessary controls, propane sensors, alarm, etc. will run you about $500. Add another $800-$1000 for the stove and you're done. I was lucky and found a used but like new Force 10 stove for $500, so check around. Each of the components comes with detailed specs on safe installation. It's not a cheap project, but it sure is nice to get up in the morning, push a couple of buttons and have a nice controllable fire to heat your coffee and make breakfast.Check out some of the older postings on propane vs. compressed natural gas (CNG).
