How big a project is it to sand down the nonskid and then replace with a completely new texture. Why would someone do this? Each season I fix any cracks on the deck where water may intrude. That way I can be sure the decks never become water logged. The problem is the nonskid pattern is never matched correctly. We do have this flexible pattern product that is used to match the nonskid as close a possible, however, it really never looks 100%. It has been suggested that we just sand off the nonskid and replace it with something that can be matched on future repairs. comments...

duraback

The catalina nonskide is hard to match I no a guy that is thinking of useing Duraback it a rubber baced epoxy that we use on parking garages and cement floors tug boats ect the stuff is tough and it comes in colers the grit is made from old tires( rubber)they make smooth and a heavy grit but they can mix a finer grit in to the smooth If you want. The stuff looks good on my trailer deck. It waterproof,Cheep and wont come off check it out.

consider Tek Dek or Marinedek

Mike, this suggestion only works for people who like the traditional look of a teak deck, but there are a couple of synthetic decking products out there now, especiall Tek Dek, that get glued down on top of the cracked deck surface, sealing it from further water intrusion and giving you what looks like a teak deck. The only way to reach the distributors of these products is to find their web sites and call someone on the phone. I got the impression from my talk with a distributor that the kit to do a cockpit in Tek Dek, including adhesives, would be around $500.
