Centerboard cable hum
Bob,I thought I'd throw in my two cents here... I have a 1970 Mariner, and, after talking with a lot of other Mariner owners, that cable hum seems to be a pretty standard thing - I don't think it has anything to do with the pennant cable being cut short at any time. I'd also be wary of letting the board down all the way so your pennant remains slack - I suppose, as Joe said, it might work if you're actually underway first, and then you let it slack, but any time you make a tack or the wind dies for a second, it seems to me that board would start crunching against the bottom of the centerboard slot.Nate
